You may recall the American Super Bowl commercial from Microsoft for their Adaptive controller designed for the XBOX from earlier in the year (if not, check it out at the bottom of this post). For a little bit of fun, we thought we’d take an entertaining look back at it, and how it was received with help from American comedian, actor, and writer Zach Anner.
Zach gained worldwide attention after winning his own TV show via Oprah Winfrey’s Your Own Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star. His show Rollin’ with Zach premiered in 2011 and he’s more recently guest starred on Speechless which is centred around a teenager with cerebral palsy (Zach has Cerebral Palsy).
The idea behind Microsoft’s Adaptive Controller is close to our heart – simply to make gaming more accessible to those who would otherwise struggle to operate game consoles with traditional input methods.
Zach Anner and his good friend Josh Flanagan –“He is the Thelma to my Louise” decided Zach – visited the Microsoft Lounge to experience the Adaptive Controller together … The outcome is really pretty hilarious, as is their actual findings of “What gaming is when it’s adaptive”.
Take a look for yourself:
For more info about the adaptive controller itself take a look at the Xbox site here.
We’d be silly not to include the full Superbowl ad for the adaptive controller too:
We’ll leave you with some questions to think about;
What if NDIS Participants had access to products like the Adaptive Controller?
Does this kind of product encourage the development of motor skills?
Open up lines of communications with others in the community via online gaming?
Or, does it simply offer some much required leisure time?
