Disability is an extremely broad term that contains a lot of differences. Even people with the same disability will not go through the same experiences in life. That is why the NDIS and Plan Managers provide individualised support for people with disability. However, to benefit from the NDIS scheme, you must meet the requirements first.
With all the information and documents required, applying for the NDIS can be a complicated process. At NDSP Plan Managers, our primary goal is to help you benefit from the NDIS scheme to make your life easier. As experienced NDIS Plan Managers, we have gathered some information to guide you through the application process:
Eligibility
Not everyone with a disability is considered eligible for assistance through the NDIS. That is why you need to determine if you qualify for an NDIS Plan in the first place. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has set a few requirements that qualify a person for an NDIS Plan.
To be eligible for the NDIS scheme, you must be aged between seven and sixty-five years old at the time of applying. You must have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to take part in everyday activities. Another requirement is for the applicant to live in Australia and have Australian residency or hold a permanent or a Special Protected Category visa.
All participants of the NDIS scheme have the right to have Plan Management included in their plans. All fees get added to your NDIS Plan’s Improved Life Choices category.
Application
The succeeding step is to fill in The Access Request Form. It must also be submitted with some information and evidence to support your request. As experienced NDIS Plan Managers, we recommend providing information and documents that are as clear as possible about your disability and its impact on your daily life.
To confirm your age, you need to provide documents, such as your birth certificate. You could also make available a copy of your current passport or driver’s license. A copy of your Australian Citizen or Naturalisation Certificate, Foreign passport or travel document, could also be used to confirm your residency.
After sending your application to the NDIA, they will decide whether you are eligible or not. If you are accepted for the NDIS, you will be contacted to arrange a planning meeting to discuss your needs. This is the perfect time to contact your NDIS Plan Managers.
