Meet Some Of The NDSP Plan Managers Team

Every so often we get the chance to give you some insight into our life here at NDSP Plan Managers, and this time we’d like to introduce you to a few key members of our incredibly talented, fun and knowledgeable team.

You may recognise a few faces or names and if you do, we’re sure you’ll share our opinion of just how great the crew is here at NDSP Plan Managers!

Name: Zosie Rosato

profile zosieWhere did you grow up? I grew up in Echuca, Victoria on a small farm with lots and lots of pets.

Your Role: Regional Coordinator – Tasmania

What motivates you to work in the disability sector? My drive to contribute positively towards the lives of others has led me to this sector. Having seen firsthand the positive outcomes that a supportive, integrated, and compassionate support network can create in the lives of individuals, I look forward to work everyday in the disability sector.

Favourite thing or moment working at NDSP Plan Managers: My favourite thing about working at NDSP Plan Managers is the fun and supportive team. Everybody I have the pleasure of working alongside brings with them so much knowledge, respect, and care. Plus, we make sure there is some light-heartedness and fun in everything we do.

The most interesting thing you have learnt about working in the NDIS landscape? Working in the NDIS landscape there is always new things to learn. One thing of particular interest is learning about exciting unconventional therapies that are gaining traction and recognition under the NDIS. Whether that be horse therapy, drama & music therapy, or even sand & play therapy. I find this area really supports the premise of providing individualised support and care, that is going to enable a participant to optimise their NDIS plan.

Has there been a specific work-related challenge you have either overcome or are working to overcome? Being my first role within the disability sector, I am continually working to overcome the challenges of this space. For me this includes familiarising myself with the NDIS, my local community, and the supports and services that are available within the sector. It is a very exciting, and never-ending, source of information. I am learning something new every day!

Best advice I ever received…

A smile is contagious. Every room you enter, enter with a smile. This small action can make the greatest of impacts on others.

Name:  Liz Hutchison

liz hutchisonWhere did you grow up? In the North West of Sydney and still live in the area today!

Your Role: Business Relationship Manager, NSW

What motivates you to work in the disability sector? To have a meaningful, rewarding profession. I love making a difference and working towards a great outcome.

Favourite thing or moment working at NDSP Plan Managers: The team and culture! Very lucky to work with a group of like-minded, passionate professionals who are there to make a difference every day.

The most interesting thing you have learnt about working in the NDIS landscape? Being relatively new to the sector I learn something new every day which has been especially helpful when my Son is also an NDIS participant.

Please shine a light on your experience of a great participant outcome story…  A participant reached out to us via our online chat, she was needing a new Support Coordinator due to moving interstate and in need of support with urgent STA. Within that day, I connected the participant to a new Support Coordinator who then in turn organised the participant a STA place within 2 days. The participant was very happy with the new housing and support provided.

Has there been a specific work-related challenge you have either overcome or are working to overcome? The challenge came when I found myself looking for a new work opportunity after accepting a redundancy from an airline role (due COVID), I loved working in a customer focused industry with a great culture and wasn’t sure if I would be lucky enough to find this type of work again but then I was very fortunate that I connected with NDSP, in a role that is person focused and very rewarding.

Best advice I ever received…   some great advice from the legendary Maya Angelou “Do the best you can until you know better, then when you know better, do better”

Name: Grace Grant

Grace GrantWhere do you call home? Adelaide, Australia

Your Role: Business Development and Marketing Assistant

What motivates you to work in the disability sector? Working in the disability sector means that my job has purpose.

Favourite thing or moment working at NDSP Plan Managers: Feeling valued. This company has so much heart! It gives you drive to do better for yourself and for the company. I have the utmost respect for NDSP.

The most interesting thing you have learnt about working with people with disabilities or the NDIS? The different types of disabilities that can occur and a HUGE perspective to those who are living with a disability. People do not understand how different their day-to-day lives are…

Please shine a light on your experience of a great participant outcome story… Not directly with NDSP, however when I was a primary school, I had a friend who was deaf. She had always wanted to swim but was always scared to take her cochlear implant out as she said she hated the silence and the uncertainly of the water. I told her that if she really wanted to, I would go with her and hold her hand the whole time. I eventually convinced her one day and it was the best experience for me to be able to help her so much, I cannot even imagine the emotions she may have been going through! She got in the water with baby steps, shallow water and me by her side. Once she was in, she was under the water within seconds, swimming like a fish!

Best advice I ever received… Love yourself before you love others

Name: Emilie Bidaine

Emilie BidaineWhere did you grow up I grew up on a farm in the North East of Scotland before making the “big move” to a village in the Speyside! The perks of my childhood: running around the countryside. The perks of my adulthood: becoming a whisky tour guide for one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland!

Your Role: Business Relationship Manager

What motivates you to work in the disability sector? The people I meet are what motivates me to work in this space. Whether it’s a client, a support worker, a colleague or an LAC, I feel that all of these people bring out the best in me but also challenge me in different ways that make work interesting and meaningful.

Favourite thing or moment working at NDSP Plan Managers: When someone comes to me with a tricky problem and I can come back to them with a thought-out solution.

The most interesting thing you have learnt about working in the NDIS landscape? That I need to have confidence in myself even as the little NDIS earthquakes play themselves out: the reflection on me is not necessarily whether I was prepared or not for a change to the Scheme but more whether I can react in a positive way.

Please shine a light on your experience of a great participant outcome story… I have been working to link one of our ECEI clients to a fun, experienced physio to work on running, jumping and climbing upstairs. One face-to-face meeting, 4 weeks and 12 phone calls later – they are booked in for their first session and the outcomes are going to be lots of 4-year-old play, splashing in puddles and running outside!

Has there been a specific work-related challenge you have either overcome or are working to overcome? I haven’t always had such a supportive workplace which means I actually came into the role with some “self-doubt baggage”. I started at NDSP Plan Managers in June 2020 with an absolutely fab manager and colleagues so you would think I’d have sent that baggage well on its way but oh no – still a working progress!

Best advice I ever received… “Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.” – Albert Einstein and of course, “When you’re travelling, always keep your money in a fanny pack!” (years of fashion crime ensued) – thanks granny.
